Plagiarism - A Global Phenomena

It was the year 2001 when i started to watch global cinema seriously, Seriously mean not the famous one like titanic or matrix and global because Hollywood is not the only in the world, We have pretty good Spanish, Italian and Brazilian movies also, and it was the same year when i was introduced to plagiarism when i watched "The Silence Of the Lambs" , I said to myself that i've definitely seen Indian version of these and that movie turned out to be "Sangharsh" , If you have seen both the movie than you know that both the flicks were outstanding..

Now as i progress to watch more movies i come to know more about copy stuff, It wasn't started in late 90's, It was widely spread in 60's and 70's also, Talk about movies "Aradhana" or "Abhimaan" and you can't even think that this could be copy from other source, and specially if you're from 60's and 70's era. Watch "To each his own" and "A star is born" for the similar stuff in "Aradhana" and "Abhimaan". Now the point is where is the creativity? and specially in bollywood, In the era of internet we come to know about the so called innovation from our veteran's directors was copied from some other sources, god know how many old super hits are rip off of Hollywood or other cinema.

Some can argue that not all indian viewers watch other cinema than bollywood, and the indian directors are doing really great work by molding and representing others work by adapting(Copying) their stories and presenting in front of Indian viewers, Ok i agreed, I like the idea, But why are you calling this work as original. Give the credit to whoever think and work first-hand, The directors and producers openly said that our movie is inspired by memento and ghajni(tamil), that doesn't mean that people won't go and watch, Infact ghajni was instant hit with broking all the records.

I googled and compiled list of bollywood movie which are inspired/Total rip-off of other cinema, specially Hollywood and i will post at the end of this blog, But only bollywood copies is not true, Hollywood also copies and won't give credit, The Departed is lifted from Hong-Kong film series The Infernal Affairs, The Matrix, was inspired by Japanese animation films – Ghost in the shell & Akira. And the most famous fighting style in the matrix was copied from Chinese film called Hard Boiled , the amazing theory of the Matrix was lifted from an episode(The Deadly Assassins) of a British TV series, Dr. Who. I'm sure there will be so many Hollywood flicks which are copied from other source.

Adaptation and sharing is always good and it will work in movies, music, novel also, But some directors won't understand it, As promised below is the list of hindi movies which are copied from other cinema, Read it and think about it.
